Eddie Asberry, 68, of Elgin, TX, passed away, Tuesday, May 29, 2012.
Edward Donald Asberry was born Thursday, July 15, 1943 in El Paso, TX to Alice (Turner) and Olen Asberry. He grew up in Cactus, TX and attended high school in Dumas, TX. After high school he attended an Oklahoma State trade school where he learned front end and brake repair. On July 4, 1965 he married the love of his life, Linda Sue Jordan and was blessed with three children.
He loved rodeo, horses, ranching and the cowboy way of life. He was an accomplished farrier, auctioneer and car salesman. He retired in 2010. Eddie loved singing, fishing, riding horses and leather craft.
Eddie loved the Lord and was a founding member of the Lost Pines Cowboy Church in Elgin, TX where he blessed the music ministry with his smooth tenor voice as he sang praises to our Lord.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Asberry on September 20, 2002 and his parents.
Survivors include his son, E. Scott Asberry of Iowa Park, TX; two daughters, Becky Martin of Elgin, TX and Kristi O’Gorman and husband, John of Stinnett, TX; his brother, Butch Asberry and wife Frances of Harrisburg, PA; his sister, Betty Irvin of Amarillo, TX; eleven grandchildren, Jarod O’Gorman of Stinnett, TX, Jason O’Gorman of Stinnett, TX, Jeremy O’Gorman of Stinnett, TX, Jordan Gerber of Amarillo, TX, Kellie Martin of Stinnett, TX, Cassie Robles and husband Noee of Borger, TX, Justin O’Gorman and wife, Sandi of Denver City, TX, Blake Martin Jr. of Jacksonville, FL. Anna Martin of Elgin, TX, Macie Martin of Elgin, TX and Jasmine O’Gorman of Stinnett, TX; and five great grandchildren, Billy Robles of Borger, TX, Wyatt Collier of Stinnett, TX, Jay Lynn Robles of Borger, TX, Rance Martin of Stinnett, TX and Daylen O’Gorman of Denver City, TX.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM, Friday, June 1, 2012 at Calvary Baptist Church in Dumas, TX with Greg Long and Brad Foster officiating. Burial will follow at Dumas Cemetery in Dumas, TX.
Mr.Asberry will lie in state at Brown Chapel in Stinnett, TX on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 from 12:00PM to 8:00PM and Thursday, May 31, 2012 from 8:00AM to 8:00PM.
Pallbearers will be Justin O’Gorman, Jason O’Gorman, Jarod O’Gorman, Jeremy O’Gorman and Logan Collier. Honorary Pallbearers will be Blake Martin Jr., Tony Buchanan, Waylon Irvin, Ferris Luke Jr. and Donnie Ives.
Another memorial service will be held at 4:00PM, Saturday June 9, 2012 at Lost Pines Cowboy Church, 608 W. Alamo Street in Elgin, TX.
