The Sanford-Fritch Eagles were seeking a little revenge on Friday night when Canadian rolled into town, and they did not disappoint. The Eagles were determined and pulled out a thrilling one-point win in a game that literally went down to the last second.
Ryan Blakely broke free for a 50 yard run for the first Eagle score. Colton Valle's extra point was good. Valle then hauled in a 52 yard pass from Blakely for the next score and his kick was true. The Eagles found themselves up 14-0 after the first quarter.
Canadian scored seven in the second, and tied it up in the third, but the Eagles were not done.
Blakely again breaks free for a 35 yard run to pay dirt, and the Valle kick is good yet again. Canadian drove down the field and found the endzone with 3 seconds left on the clock. They missed the all-important extra point, and the Eagles end the night with a 21-20 victory.
Both teams had 12 first downs. The Eagles finished the night with 311 yards on the ground and 54 through the air. Valle finished with 201 total yards and one touchdown. Blakely was responsible for the other two touchdowns.
It was a great win and great revenge on an always tough Canadian Wildcat team. Congratulations, Eagles!
