The high winds and distant storms didn’t scare the Sanford-Fritch Eagles when they arrived at Highland Park Stadium.
The Eagles knew this would be a game they felt confident with and put up big stats for key players.
The first Eagles’ touchdown came rather quickly, for none other, than junior running back Colton Valle.
The offense pound the ball on the ground before Valle finally got a break for a 28 yard touchdown.
Throughout the night, Sanford-Fritch had many plays called back due to penalties and plenty were they, 95 yards in all. Sanford-Fritch ended the first quarter up 7-0.
Highland Park couldn’t get any offense going thanks to good defense plays by Caleb Manzella, Daniel Segedy, and Terry Bryan.
A big 42 yard run gave Valle his second rushing touchdown and after PAT Sanford-Fritch was up 15-0.
Another four and out on downs by Highland Park gave the Eagles great field advantage.
This helped set up sa pass from quarterback Chirs Bryan to sophomore receiver Ryan Blakely for a 12 yard touchdown to put 23-0 on the scoreboard to end the half.
Running the ball seemed quite easy for Valle starting the third quarter, easy enough to boast his third touchdown after 23 yard run.
Valle would sit the rest out with his total rushing at 203 for the night.
Big fumble recovery by T Bryan gave the Eagles the ball back.
The Bryan combo(Chris & Terry) set up a 29 yard touchdown to give Sanford-Fritch 35-0 lead.
A big interception by Blakely would force the Eagles’ coaches to put in the younger players to show their fans a glimpse if what’s to come in the future.
Substitutions on defense gave Highland Park their only touchdown.
The Eagles won by a final score of 35-7.
Next Friday, Sanford-Fritch will host Dimmitt.
