Eagles open season with loss to Claude

November 30, 2011

After an extended football season, the Eagles from Sanford-Fritch had their first game of the season at home against Claude.
Pretty exciting game with some sloppy play but with continuing conditioning these Eagles may be fun to watch under new coach Chris Simmons.
Eagles had a good first quarter leading 10-9.
With fatigue a factor, the Claude Mustangs tried running the ball up and down the court to wear those Eagles out.
Sanford-Fritch stayed up and battled them the entire first three quarters. Halftime score was a close matchup with the Mustangs leading 20-25.
Sanford-Fritch’s Senior Hunter Cunningham had exceptional free- throw shooting nabbing 8 of 9 from the line.
The Eagles showed some great potential and with practice and conditioning, these Eagles may be something to reckon with later.
Cunningham lead Eagles in scoring with 16.
Claude finished the game winning 62-42.
The Eagles will join the ladies this weekend in tournament action River Road.
Stat leaders:
Cunningham 16 pts; 1 reb
Christian Ward 8 pts; 4 reb
Chris Bryan 6 pts; 7 reb
Colton Valle 6 pts; 4 reb
Ryan Blakely 5 pts; 3 reb
Skylar Jewett 4 pts; 1 reb
