The Sanford Fritch teams met up with White Deer for the second time this season. The first round was a wild one, and the second matchup did not disappoint either. Both games were very physical, and a total of five technicals were called between the two games.
The Lady Eagles won the first contest between these teams easily, and did so again on Tuesday night. Fritch ended the 1st quarter with a three pointer from Meek at the buzzer to go up 21-6, and ended the half up 29-13.
The third quarter found the Lady Eagles pulling away, and the White Deer coach was called for a technical foul after many frustrations with the officiating. The Lady Eagles end the third up by 18.
There was not much action in the fourth, just more solid play from Fritch. They end the game with a nice 52-31 win.
Meek was high point for the Lady Eagles with 15 points, 9 of those coming in the first quarter. She also had 3 rebounds and 2 steals. White finished with 11 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals. Setliff had 10 points and 7 boards for the Lady Eagles.
The last game between the Eagles and Bucks went down to the wire with Fritch winning by 1. From the start of this second matchup, it looked like it would be more of the same.
Fritch did not put any points on the board for the first four minutes of the game. Not much scoring happened in the first as it ended 9-5 in favor of White Deer.
They improved in the second quarter and played much better defense. They go into the half only down by two.
The Eagles came out on fire in the third quarter and tied it up at 21 and 23 before going up by as much as 7. A technical was called on the White Deer coach as play got very physical for both teams. Then technicals were called on a Fritch defender and a White Deer player after elbows were thrown. After things settled down a bit, Fritch found themselves up by 6 after three quarters of play.
Both Blakely and Reynolds would foul out in the fourth. Blakely was called for a technical after his frustration for fouling out. The Eagles were still in control, however, and cruised to a 50-42 win over White Deer.
Blakely was the leading scorer with 16 points, 8 rebounds, and a block. Melton finished with 14 points and two steals. Valle also had a nice game with 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals. The Eagle defense played very solid throughout, shutting down the big guys inside.
Both Eagle teams will host Wellington at 5:00pm on Friday night.
