Dr. Jock Lee celebrates 30 years in business
Veterinarian Dr. Jock Lee has been in his line of work for 35 years and will celebrate 30 years of owning his own business, located on 600 East Broadway Street in Fritch. He graduated from veterinary school in August of 1975 from Texas A&M. He is originally from Spearman and moved to Fritch because he was offered the chance to come to FPC to teach veterinarian medicine However, he said he also came here for the small town atmosphere. “I like small town areas because I grew up in one,” Dr. Lee said.He finally settled in Fritch in 1976 and has been there ever since. “I wanted to be a veterinarian in the 7th grade. From the very beginning, it was my relationship with the local vet Dr. Hal Rinker, I was involved with FFA and I shared an admiration for Dr. Rinker and his knowledge and the things he did,” Dr. Lee said. “One time I counted about 14 people in our area who were inspired by him to choose veterinarian medicine as a career and who actually became veterinarians.” Once he got started, he knew he wanted to start his own business. Lee Veterinary Hospital mainly focuses on wellness, prevention of diseases, diagnostic work-ups, and surgery. “We do everything a country doctor used to do maybe 50 years ago except with more sophisticated equipment,” he said. Dr. Lee said that over the years he has been here he has seen “many changes” but they have been mostly good and the opposite of what he heard. “I’ve seen changes in the outlook of the community, I think is there more optimism now,” he said. “We’re just happy to be here and will continue to be here. I have no retirement plans.” The workers at Lee Veterinary Hospital wanted to send special thanks to locals Mr. Robert Flower and his dog Hilda, who have been part of the hospital for a year and a half.
