Doris A. Bland Zink

Doris A. Bland Zink, 83 a long time resident of the Spring Creek Community lost her fight with cancer on January 17, 2012 at 9:27 PM at her home, but won the ability to worship our Lord and Savior forever in the Kingdom of Heaven. Doris was born the first of three children on the 27th day of June 1928 in Fairfax, Oklahoma to Doyce A. “Pete” Bland and Mary Anna Eberle Bland. She grew up in the Shilder, Oklahoma area attending Grade School at Carter Nine and then attended High School at Shidler graduating in 1946. On June 20th, 1947 she married Clyde B.D. Zink in Winfield, Kansas. In 1948 they moved to Borger, Texas and in 1952 Doris and Bill moved into their new home in Spring Creek where she lived for 60 years.
Doris was employed as a Bookkeeper at Jerry Keith Company, for 25 years retiring in 1998. Throughout her life she enjoyed cooking and homemaking and watching her two sons play sports at Spring Creek and Borger. Later she enjoyed watching her Grandson play golf in local tournaments in the area. Doris enjoyed writing letters to her friends and Family ensuring that old friends were never lost and Family ties was never severed. She was always quick to take pictures of her family and friends that are all stored in albums throughout her home. Her “Maw Maw” stew is the best and her homemade Egg Noodles were always something to look forward to at Thanksgiving. Doris will be surely missed be anyone who knew her.
Among the several relatives and friends that met her at the “Gates of Heaven” were her Parents, Pete and Anna Bland. She left behind her loving husband Bill of the home, a Son, Billie Dale Zink of Tyler, Texas and a Son, Steven C. Zink and his wife Janna of Bloomfield, New Mexico and a Grandson, Christopher Zink of Casper, Wyoming. A sister Joanne Bauman and husband Frank of Beloit, Kansas. A Brother J.D. “Pete” Bland and his wife Pat of Shidler, Oklahoma, and a multitude of nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Services will be held at 11:00AM, Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Brown Chapel Of The Fountains in Borger, Texas. Burial will follow at Highland Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Zink will lie in state on Thursday, January 19, 2012 and Friday, January 20, 2012 from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM at Brown Chapel Of The Fountains in Borger, Texas.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the BSA Home Health Care Hospice, 800 North Sumner, Pampa, Texas 79065.
