Departments respond to tanker truck fire

November 27, 2012

A Turner Energy tanker truck caught fire just two miles north of Fritch on Monday.
According to Hutchinson County Fire Marshal Danny Richards, the truck was hauling hydrocarbon liquid which is similar to low-grade gasoline.
The wreck happened on Fritch Fortress just before 1 p.m. The Fritch Fire Department, Hutchinson County Fire Department, Fritch EMS, and National Park Service responded to the scene.
All officials had the fire under control around 3 p.m. The cause of the accident is still under investigation. No injuries were reported. The truck was a total loss.
“Thankfully the safety valves worked properly on the truck, preventing an explosion,” said Richards.
