Departments respond to fire east of Stinnett

A fire was kindled five miles east of Stinnett around 2 p.m. on Monday, August 1, 2011.
Nine fire departments and Amarillo aircrafts responded to the fire at Turkey Track Ranch. Fire fighters were on the scene until around midnight that night.
Hutchinson County Fire Marshal Danny Richards states the fire damaged over 3,000 acres of land.
Fire departments did save two structures in the fire’s path. There were no injuries.
The American Red Cross brought food and water to the firefighters on the scene. The cause of the wildfire is still under investigation.
Richards commented that the community is still in a drought and wild fires are still a threat. Citizens need to continue using extra precautions.

Our firefighters are close to saints to go out in this 100 degree plus heat and do their jobs. It takes really special people. God bless them.
