On Tuesday afternoon, Amarillo Tascosa Rebels sophomore pitcher Tucker Davidson showed why he is an athlete to watch in the Texas Panhandle by getting the complete game win on the pitcher’s mound over the Borger Bulldogs 11-1.
The lefty struck out 13 Bulldog batters in five innings of work and only gave up three hits.
The Rebels got on the scoreboard early scoring five runs in the top of the first inning off a infield single and a grand slam.
In the bottom of the first inning, the Bulldogs responded with Clay Ellis hitting a double followed by an RBI single by Max Lusk to make it a 1-5 game. A fielding error allowed Lusk to stretch the single and make it safely to third base. But a strikeout and a ground out limited the Bulldogs to one run in the inning.
In the second inning, the Bulldogs gave up five walks an a hit batter to set the Rebels up for a three RBI single. The Rebels added another run in the inning to build a commanding 1-9 lead.
The Rebels added a run in both the fourth and fifth innings, while Davidson kept the Bulldog bats cold to give Tascosa the win after the fifth inning.
The win improves Tascosa to 3-9 on the season, while the Bulldogs drop to 1-5.
The Bulldogs will next take part in the Midland Tournament this weekend, where they will open with Seminole on Thursday evening.
