David Eugene Huffine, 58, died Saturday, May 12, at his home at Peaceful Scout Camp in Elbert, Colo.
Memorial services were held at the Scout Ranch on Sunday, May 20. David was cremated and his ashes were scattered on his favorite spot on ranch on a hill overlooking the Peaceful Volley Scout Ranch.
David was born April 21, 1954, in Borger, TX, to Janet and E.C. Huffine. He attended Phillips School and graduated from Phillips High School in 1972. He was active in football, student council, and boy scouts. He attended Colorado State University at Fort Collins, Colo. He graduated in 1979 with a bachelorâ€™s degree in wildlife management.
David worked for the Corp of Engineers for several years in Oklahoma and Texas at different sites before moving to Aurora, Colo. He worked at the Parks and Recreation and building remodeling for Aurora. In 2005, he moved to Elbert, Colo., to be the Assistant Ranger at Peaceful Valley Scout Ranch. In 2006 he was promoted to the Ranger at the Ranch. That was his job at time of death.
David was an Eagle Scout, member of Order of the Arrow, Cubmaster for Pack 512, Scoutmaster at the 2001 National Jamboree, and recipient of the Silver Beaver award in 1999.
David is survived by his parents, two sisters, Shari and husband Randy Thomas of Greeley, Colo., Lezley Huffine of Amarillo; and brother Mark Huffine and wife Paula of Borger; and children, Levi, Jacob, and Hannah of Denver, Colo.
