Crews fight fires in Bunavista, Skellytown areas

Wildfires broke out in Bunavista and near Skellytown on Monday.
The first fire happened at 11:58 a.m. on Highway 136 between Wal-Mart and Bunavista.
A total of 10 firefighters responded to the scene and extinguished the fire within 45 minutes.
Borger Fire Marshal Jerry Langwell stated the fire caused damage to eight acres of land.
The cause of the fire is still undetermined at this time.
Later that afternoon, another fire happened near Skellytown, causing damage to about 68 acres.
Langwell said Borger Fire Department responded at 1:36 p.m. for mutual aid.
The fire was out at 2:38 p.m.
