County candidates forum set for March 6

Election season is in full swing, and citizens will soon have the opportunity to hear from the candidates running for county office.
The Hutchinson County Republican Women are inviting the public to the Republican Candidates forum on Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at Dake’s Restaurant, 718 North Main, in Borger. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m.
The candidates will have an opportunity to speak with a question/answer period to follow. A reception will be provided at 6:30 p.m. and the forum starts at 7 p.m.
Two county races are contested in this year’s election, and those are the races for Hutchinson County Sheriff and County Commissioner, Precinct #3. Candidates are as follows:
Sheriff: Michael Lon “Mickey” Blackmon, Donald L. “Don” Johnson, and James Qualls
County Commissioner, Precinct #3: S.T. “Red” Isbell, Jr., and Nathan G. Sargent
Unopposed races in this year’s election are as follows:
County Commissioner, Precinct #1: Larry G. Coffman
Constable, Precinct #1: Kendell McWilliams
Constable, Precinct #2: Ron Cromer
Tax Assessor/Collector: Carrie D. Kimmell
County Attorney: Michael D. Milner
District Attorney, 84th Judicial District: Mark W. Snider
District Judge, 84th Judicial District: William D. “Bill” Smith
