Comanches and Eagles fall in district basketball play

In District 1-2A play, the #9 Bobcats showed why they are considered one of the best teams in the state in class 2A in jumping out ahead of the Eagles from the opening tip.
Childress started to pull away in the second period by building a 38-12 lead on their way to the 89-34 win.
The loss snapped a two game district winning streak for the Eagles, who will wrap up the 2011-12 on Tuesday against Amarillo River Road.
Ryan Blakely led the Eagles with 12 points followed by Christian Ward and Trey Henry scoring 5 each.

Gruver 59 West Texas High 44
The West Texas High Comanches wrapped up the 2011-12 season with a 59-44 loss in Gruver in District 1-1A play.
The Greyhounds started the game hot and build a 33-12 lead by halftime.
The Comanches played hard until the end but were only able to cut their deficit to 16 points.
Nathan Forrest led the Comanches by scoring eight points. followed by Alex Ramirez scoring seven points. The Comanches conclude district play with a 2-8 record.
