Charles M. Darnell, 94, of Borger died Friday August 19, 2011, at his home.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011, at Calvary Baptist Church with Jeff Hutchison, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Resthaven Garden at Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Charles was born Jan. 18, 1917, at Haskell, Texas, to Edward Franklin and Maggie Virginia Darnell. He worked as an iron worker for 30 years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was a Borger resident for 69 years.
He married Neudy Erle Crisp Nov. 2, 1939, at Rising Star, Texas. She preceded him in death in 1971. He then married Audry Yarbrough Ratliff March 12, 1976, at Borger and she passed away in 2009. He was also preceded in death by daughters Nita Beth Coyner 2001 and Katherine Ryan in 2006 and his parents. He loved to read his Bible and spend time with family.
He is survived by a son Gayland Darnell of Borger, daughters, Mary Virginia Havron of Borger and Cleta Joy Darnell of Borger; seven stepchildren, 19 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and many great-great grandchildren.
