Charles Leon Jett passed away Dec. 18, in Rockport, Texas, at the age of 78. He was born on Jan. 8, 1934, to Joe P. and Nettie Jett in Chilicothe, Texas.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents Joe and Nettie Jett, brother Bill Jett, and brother Richard Jett.
He is survived by his wife Patsy Jett of Rockport; three children, Kevin Jett of Rockport; Kathy Grange and husband Jerry of McKinney; and Kerry Jett and wife Kelly of Borger; two brothers Ralph Jett and wife Freeda of Winthrop, Arkansas; Ted Jett and wife Sharon of Glen Rose, Texas; and one sister Sue Ming of Wichita Falls, Texas; Also five grandchildren, Brad Jett, Kelli Hernandez, Jaime Greene, Cody Jett, and Curry Porter; and 5 great grandchildren.
Charles graduated from Vernon High School. He married Patsy Clines and they moved to Stinnett in 1961. Charles went to work for Phillips Petroleum Company at the age of 18 and retired at the age of 58, after forty years of service.
During those forty years in Stinnett, Charles was active in the First Baptist Church where he served as deacon and taught Sunday School and Royal Ambassadors. He was a trustee on the School Board at Stinnett High School and served a term as President. Charles also served in the National Guard.
Charles was an avid golfer, but also enjoyed fishing, walking, hiking, hunting. After he retired from Phillips Petroleum Company, he and his wife bought an R.V. and traveled all across the country sightseeing. They eventually made their home in Rockport, Texas.
Graveside services will be held in Vernon, Texas at a later date.
