Chamber, BNH sponsoring lighting contest

November 12, 2012

The home of Chris Purcell was last year’s residence winner in the Borger Chamber of Commerce lighting contest. In order to have a chance to win this year’s contest, homeowners and business owners need to submit their entries for this year’s contest by Dec. 3.

The Chamber of Commerce and Borger News-Herald are sponsoring this year's Christmas lighting contest.
All entries must be within two miles of Borger City limits. Entries can be submitted in business and residence categories.
If the decorating is at a place of business, it qualifies as a business entry. If the decorating takes place at a residence it is in the individual category.
Cash prizes will be awarded for both categories . $300 will be given for first place, $200 will be given for second place, and $100 will be given for third place.
Residence entries will be judged on attractive use of light and color, originality and creativity, use of non-lighting decorations (ex. lawn ornaments, mailbox covers, etc.), the overall effect, and the Christmas spirit portrayed.
Business entries will be judged on originality, visibility, traditional lighting arrangement, use of music, and overall appeal.
There is no entry fee to participate, but all entries must be returned by Monday, Dec. 3.
Forms can be picked up from and returned to the Borger Chamber of Commerce, 613 North Main. They can also be mailed to the chamber at PO Box 490, Borger, TX 79008 or faxed to (806) 273-3488. One form is required per entry.
A list of entries will be featured in the Borger News-Herald. Judging will take place during the evening hours of Tuesday, Dec. 11 through Friday, Dec. 14. Judging will not take place after 10 pm on these dates.
