Carson County Square House Museum celebrates golden anniversary Sept. 23

Saturday, September 23 the Carson County Square House Museum will celebrate its golden anniversary. The museum, located at Fifth and Elsie Streets in Panhandle, TX., will hold a BBQ featuring sliced brisket with all the trimmings from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for a donation to the museum. A country store, filled with homemade cookies, pies, cakes and canned goods from some of the area's best cooks, will open during the celebration and a silent auction will be held featuring donated items.

At 2:00 p.m., the festivities continue with the opening of two new museum exhibits at the Square House. A first ever hands-on exhibit features the museum's extensive gun collection. Another exhibit in Freedom Hall includes the paintings of Nell Lill Lemons and a chine exhibit. Cookies and punch will be served at a reception which includes a choir performance of singers from Carson County.
