The West Texas Comanches gave it their best shot, and it was certainly much better than the last time the two teams met. It was Senior night at Comanches gym, and the Lady Tribe battled the stronger, taller Canadian Wildcats, but they were too much to handle as WT lost 55-28. With the new realignment, looks like this will be the last District contest between the two teams as Canadian will be moving up to 2A next year.
The opening quarter was a good one. Sarah Kelly put in two buckets and hit a free shot and Devin DeLapp made a basket. They hung with Canadian most of the quarter and trailed be one right up until the end, when the Lady Cats hit a three to put them up 11-7.
Kelly had a replay of her performance in the second quarter. Madison Heston added a bucket and Abby Summers was 1-2 at the foul line. The Lady Wildcats added on eighteen points and WT trailed 29-15 at the half.
WT managed just two points in the third quarter with a bucket by Kelly. The Lady Cats added ten more points to their total and led 39-17 at the end of three.
Heston hit a three at the top of the key in the fourth for WT. Kelly added a basket, Katelyn Wilson was 1-2 at the free throw line, and Abby Summers added a field goal and made 2-2 at the line.
Kelly had a double double for WT with 14 points and 12 rebounds. She also came up with 2 steals. Heston had 5 points, 3 boards, and a steal. Summers had 5 points and 2 rebounds.
This was the final home game for Seniors Kelly, Heston, Summers, and Elyssa Snider. The girls end their season Tuesday in Stratford.
