C L “Bob” Neeley, 97, died at home
Wednesday Dec. 11th, 2013.
Memorial services will be at 2 pm Monday
Dec 16 at First Baptist Church Sanford with
Rev. Larry Brock officiating. Burial will be in
Westlawn Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements
are by Brown Funeral Directors Borger, Tx.
Bob was born Oct. 15, 1916 in Oblong, Illinois
to Hershel and Ida Neeley. He moved
to Borger as a young boy and had been a resident of Sanford since 1931. He married
Vera Kilgore May 13, 1951. Bob retired in 1981 from Panhandle Producing Company
in Sanford after 37 years. He was a member of Isom Masonic Lodge # 1242 A.F. &
A.M. in Borger and Scottish Rite in El Paso for 64 years and a member of First Baptist
Church in Sanford. Bob served as the fire chief of the Sanford Volunteer Fire Dept. for
25 years and played Santa Claus in his community for over 40 years.
Bob loved spending time with his family and friends and never missed an opportunity
to give candy to everyone he came in contact with. In fact, he was known as
the candy man to many. He got such joy from children, as he himself was a big kid at
heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers Ben Neeley and David Neeley
and 1 sister Delores Wooten.
Survivors include a daughter Rosemarie Townsend and husband David, a grandson
Clint Townsend, 2 sisters Mae Brazeal and husband Ray, Evelyn Fisher and many beloved
nieces and nephews and special friends George and Marie Burdette and Jackie
Gallentine.
Viewing will be from 8am to 8pm Sat. and 12pm to 6pm Sunday at Brown’s Chapel
in Fritch. The family will receive visitors from 4pm to 6pm Saturday at Brown’s Chapel
in Fritch.
