Bulldogs earn Second Team All-State honors

(Pictured l to r) 2011 Borger seniors Garrett Irwin and Brandon Garica were named to the Collin Street Bakery/Texas Sports Writers Association’s Second Team Class 3A All-State Baseball Team.

After helping to lead the Borger Bulldogs to the District 1-3A title and to the third round of the 3A playoffs, 2011 senior catcher Brandon Garica and senior outfielder Garrett Irwin were named to the Second Team in the Collin Street Bakery/Texas Sports Writer's Association's 3A All-State Teams on Thursday.
Garcia, the District 1-3A MVP, had an impressive 2011 season posting a .511 batting average with 11 homeruns and a .944 slugging percentage.
Playing centerfield, Irwin made the team after posting a .434 batting average with 34 RBI’s, 45 runs scored and 10 stolen bases.
