On Saturday evening, two Borger Bulldogs and two Sanford-Fritch Eagles will take part in the 62nd Annual Childress Rotary Greenbelt BowlClassic at Park Stadium in Childress.
Recent Borger High School graduates, receiver/defensive back Michael Morrison and linebacker Dylan Winkle will join recent Sanford-Fritch High School graduate offensive lineman/defensive end Shane Tollis on the North squad. Sanford-Fritch graduate offensive/defensive lineman Tyler Moore will compete on the South squad.
Scott Taylor of Cisco Junior College will lead the North squad that features athletes stretching as far as Dalhart down to Wichita Falls and Jacksboro. Some of the players headlining the North roster include Dalhartâ€™s Harper Scofield and Adrian Ruiz, Bushlandâ€™s Mason Harris, and Randall quarterback Hunter Alford.
The South squad features athletes from Mineral Wells, up to Sunray down to Hobbs, N.M. that will be led by New Mexico Military Institute Head Coach Josh Lynn.
Some notable players on the South squad include Quanahâ€™s Tyson Marsh and Roderick Woodard, along with White Deer running back Braden Montgomery.
The Greenbelt Bowl was created with a concept to create opportunities for and to provide exposure of talented high school football players of smaller schools in the area that might otherwise be overlooked for college scholarships.
Since 1991, the North holds a 10-9-1 advantage. A 4-game winning streak for the South came to an end in 2003. A tie in 2007 snapped a 4-game winning streak for the North.
The game kicks off at 7:00 p.m.
