With May 15-21 being National Police Week, the Borger Police Department has received appreciation from a newly formed organization.
To kick off the week, members of the BPD Blue Rose Association, an association established to help police members and their families in times of need, presented the Borger Police Department with an Honorary Cake of Appreciation.
Lt. Anthony Griffin of the BPD said the department would greatly like to thank the members of the BPD Blue Rose Association, particularly Rhonda Roberts - president; Melissa Strope - vice president; and Susan Holland, treasurer.
In addition to the activities of the association during National Police Week, the association will also have a booth set up during the upcoming City of Borger picnic.
“All proceeds will go towards funding the association’s efforts in assisting the members of the Borger Police Department and their families in times of need,” Lt. Griffin said.
During the City of Borger picnic, the association will be raffling off tickets for a movie night at the Morley Theatre.
