Borger Trash Bash seeing great success
The Borger Trash Bash is underway, and citizens have been stepping up to the plate.According to reports thus far, as of 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, 26.5 tons of trash have been dumped since the start of the event on Monday. There have also been a large number of tires disposed of as well.Through Saturday, county residents can bring their trash to the transfer station to be disposed of for free. Tire disposal is also an available service during Trash Bash Week.Beverly Benton and Crystal Irvin at the Borger Chamber of Commerce have worked to get the word out to the public. Kathie Harber, who is with the City of Borger, said the city is grateful to all of those who have come out to help during this past week.“The City appreciates the help from the volunteers taking time out of their busy lives to help the community,” she said.The Texas Department of Transportation furnished heavy duty white “Don’t Mess With Texas” trash bags, which were delivered to participants prior to trash bash week.The transfer station and tree limb disposal areas will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today, Friday, and Saturday for those still wanting to take advantage of the free service.For more information on the Trash Bash, call Harber at Borger City Hall at 273-0908, David Arthur at the transfer station at 273-0977, or Benton at the Chamber of Commerce at 274-2211.
