After Tuesday afternoon, players and fans of the Borger Lady Bulldog and Sanford-Fritch Lady Eagle softball teams probably would call it a toss up between which is worse: playing in the freezing cold or playing in 50 mph winds that constantly is throwing layers of infield dirt onto anyone and anything in its path.
That was the condition the two teams battled through yesterday afternoon in their non-district game where the Lady Bulldogs came away with the 7-0 win in Fritch.
The Lady Bulldogs jumped out to an early 3-0 lead and were able to extend it to 4-0 in the top of the third inning on an RBI single by Dakota Karins.
For the Lady Eagles, the story of the game would be how the home team was able to get runners in scoring position in three innings, but unfortunately none of the base runners would cross home plate during the afternoon, keeping the Lady Eagles off the scoreboard.
The Lady Bulldogs added three more runs in the final innings on RBI hits by Karins, Joanne Jones and Alex Lopez, while freshman Taylor Hickman got the shutout win on the mound.
Both teams will now prepare for district play as the Lady Bulldogs will host Pampa this Saturday at 1 p.m., while Sanford-Fritch will next travel to Amarillo to take on River Road on Saturday, April 2, starting at noon.
