Borger PD makes additional drug arrests

February 7, 2012

Two Borger citizens were arrested on drug charges by the Borger Police Department Friday evening.
On Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, at approximately 8:34 a.m., Borger police officers responded to the 700 block of McGee Street in reference to an individual that was not supposed to be on the premises.
Upon arriving, officers made contact with Devin Michael Witt, 32, and Carrie Leann Smith, 35, both of Borger. After investigating the incident, it was found that Smith was not supposed to be on the premises, according to Lt. Anthony Griffin of the BPD.
It was also discovered during this investigation that both Smith and Witt had outstanding warrants for their arrests, Lt. Griffin said. As officers attempted to arrest Smith and Witt on their outstanding warrants, the two subjects tried to dispose of illegal drug paraphernalia, which contained an illegal narcotic (methamphetamine) before officers could retrieve the items.
However, the illegal items and illegal narcotics were seized immediately by officers. Both Smith and Witt were arrested on their outstanding warrants. They were each charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) PG 1 <1G in a drug free zone (felony of the 3rd degree) as well as tampering/fabricating physical evidence with intent to impair.
Both were transported to the Borger Police Department where they were processed and incarcerated in the City of Borger Jail Facility.
