Borger PD investigating assault

Late Thursday night between the hours of 9:45 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. on September 8, 2011, A female victim was walking on Union Street heading towards Keeler Heights addition. The female victim was at the bottom of the hill on Union Street, when a white male, wearing a mask, approached her and assaulted her from behind.
The suspect was a Caucasian male, having what was described as a “pot belly,” wearing a wool-type sweater. During the investigation, it was also discovered that there may have been a second male suspect involved that could have served as a look out for the main suspect. However, no description of the second suspect could be obtained.
The female victim was only able to hear the second suspect’s voice. Authorities do not believe that a vehicle was involved by the suspects, although the female victim acknowledged hearing passing vehicles on Union Street. he Borger Police Department is seeking information from any person(s) that may have been on Union Street (or immediate area) between the hours of 9:30pm to 10:30pm who may have witnessed and / or observed absolutely anything.
A reward is being offered for any information.
Lt. Anthony Griffin of the Borger Police Department said, ”As this incident may have been an isolated event, the Borger Police Department would still like to remind all citizens to be cautious and vigilant both personally and as to their surroundings when walking, running, or any other outdoor activity during the late evening hours, night time hours, or even early morning hours.”
He continued to say, “As a precautionary effort and procedure, the Borger Police Department will be increasing their patrol efforts in these areas, utilizing Patrol Vehicles as well as Bicycle Patrols.”
