Borger PD arrest made during traffic stop

The Borger Police Department made an arrest during a routine traffic stop on Tuesday afternoon.
On Tuesday, June 12, 2011, at approximately 11:30 a.m. officers from the department conducted a traffic stop in the 300 block of Monroe Street. After conducting the stop, officers identified the driver of the vehicle as Randi Lee Smith, 54, of Borger.
In the course of the traffic stop, officers had reasonable suspicion to investigate further into the traffic stop. At this point, officers received permission to search the vehicle, according to Lt. Anthony Griffin of the BPD.
When searching the vehicle, officers located illegal narcotics as well as illegal drug paraphernalia.
TrSThe illegal narcotics located in the vehicle were determined to be methamphetamine.
After the traffic stop and investigation were completed, Smith was taken into custody by officers. She was transported to the Borger Police Department where she was processed and incarcerated in the City of Borger jail facility.
Lt. Griffin said Smith was charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), which is a felony of the third degree, along with possession of drug paraphernalia, which is a Class C Misdemeanor.
