Borger officials still investigating apartment fire

February 10, 2012

Borger officials are still investigating a fire that occurred at an abandoned apartment complex, but have ruled it as arson.
On Jan. 31, 2012, an abandoned North Park apartment complex in the 1400 block of Hazelwood was set on fire. Borger Fire Marshal Jerry Langwell stated that the fire department received the call at 9:29 p.m. At 10 p.m. firefighters contained the fire. He continued to say one of the bedrooms in the complex that caught fire was damaged heavily by smoke. The rest of the building received light smoke damage, but the structure was more or less unharmed. Neighbors thought they heard someone, but no one was caught.
Anyone with information on this fire is encouraged to contact the Borger City Fire Marshal at 273-0952.
