Borger man killed in Wednesday morning wreck

Early Wednesday morning a Borger man was killed in a wreck one mile south of Stinnett on Highway 136.
According to the DPS report, Gentry Kent Trahern, 53, was traveling northbound on Highway 136 when at approximately 6:05 a.m. his Honda Accord struck a horse that had entered the road from the east.
After the Accord hit the horse, the vehicle slide into the southbound lane where a Toyota Tundra struck the Accord on the passenger side.
The Tundra was driven by Emit Lee Schmidt, 52, of Morse.
The Justice of the Peace pronounced Trahern dead at the scene and ordered an autopsy on the body.
Schmidt was transported to Golden Plains Community Hospital where he was treated and released.
Both drivers were wearing their seat belts.

I WAS FORTUNATE TO KNOW GENTRY YEARS AGO WHEN HE WAS A WELDER FOR THE REFINERY, HE WAS A ZACHERY QC ,WHO GUIDED MY CREW & I TO JOBS THROUGH OUT THE PLANT. I didn't know Gentry, but we are cousins on the Wood side. It makes me feel good to read such good comments about him. He was well thought of by folks in the community. I am so sorry that I never got acquainted with him. Your family is in my prayers.
