August 12, 2012

A Borger man died in a head-on collision that occurred Saturday afternoon on Highway 136 in Potter County.
According to Department of Public Safety reports, Levy David Cox, 36, was driving northbound on Texas Highway 136 in a 1994 Ford Ranger pickup. He was close to mile marker 94 and crossed into the southbound lanes for reasons that are not known at this time.
When Cox crossed the lanes, he struck a 2011 Dodge Nitro head on, which was driven by Jackie Don Stapleton, 38, according to reports. Cox was ejected from his pickup and died at the scene of the wreck, authorities said.
Lance Stapleton, 15, of Borger, was a passenger in the Nitro, and was transported to the Northwest Texas Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Authorities said Cox was not wearing a seatbelt, and Jackie and Lance Stapleton and two other passengers in the Dodge Nitro were all wearing theirs.
