Borger ISD to hold Red Ribbon Week Oct. 24-28
Borger ISD is encouraging the schools to be drug free. The week of Oct. 24 – 28, 2011 Borger Schools will have their annual Red Ribbon Week of activities. The theme of the week is “It’s up to me to be drug-free.” Borger ISD uses Red Ribbon Week to educate the schools and the community about how important it is to be drug-free. All through the week students are asked to take part in activities. Monday is “I’m a ‘Jean-ius’-I am Drug- Free Day.” Everyone is asked to wear jeans. Tuesday is the day to join the war against drugs, and students are asked to wear camouflage. Wednesday is “It’s ‘Totally Awesome’ to be Drug-Free Day.” Students are to dress in attire that reflects the 80’s era. Thursday is “Put a Cap On Drugs Day.” Students are to wear any kind of cap or hat. On Friday, students are encouraged to “stay in the game” and be drug-free as they wear Bulldog attire. Also students from all of the schools will be gathering to perform at the Bulldog Stadium on Monday, October 24, 2011 for a special red ribbon week event. The event starts at 6:30 p.m.Students need to arrive at 6:15 p.m. The kids will report to their school’s sign on the football field and parents can to go to the stands to watch the performances. After all performances, children will stay on the football field. After all the students have performed, parents will pick their children up at the south gates. The program will begin with the youngest children from Paul Belton, and then Gateway, Crockett, etc. There will be drug and violence materials handed out as the children are leaving the stadium.
