Borger, West Texas High, and many other panhandle teams competed in the Borger Invitational this past Saturday.
In the middle school girls division, Hallie Harris from Borger finished 6th, Kaleigh Newcomb of Borger finished 32nd, Berklee Hileski of West Texas was 33rd, and Tayland Ratliff of Borger finished 35th. Jazmyn Munn of Borger rounded out the top 40. The Borger girls finished 6th and West Texas was 10th out of 13 teams.
In the middle school boys division, Lucas Robertson of Borger finished 16th. Top finisher for West Texas was Brandon Sargent coming in 66th. Borger boys finished 7th and West Texas 9th out of 9 teams.
In the girls' junior varsity division, Shania Reeves and Korie Bos of Borger finished 4th and 8th respectively. Sydney Boren of Borger came in 14th for the Lady Bulldogs.
The boys' junior varsity featured many local runners in the top 25. Colten Brown, Trevor Millard, and Drestyn Bell of West Texas finished 8th, 15th, and 19th respectively. Reyes Espino of Borger finished in 10th place, and teammate Dakota Lange finished right behind him in 12th. Bulldogs Isaak Montoya and Joe Rodriguez finished 21st and 23rd.
The varsity girls were split into two divisions. Borger ran in division 1, and they were very successful. Abby Blansett finished 3rd overall and ran 2 miles under 12:30. Jasmine Rodriguez of Borger finished in 10th. Raven Rubalcaba was 22nd, Rachel Rickabaugh was 29th, Shelby Harris was 31st, Tasia Washington finished in 33rd, and Britany Rodriguez was 44th. As a team, the Lady Bulldogs finished 2nd behind Pampa.
Finally, in the boys varsity division, Lane Newcomb finished 20th and Travis Huffine finished 23rd in a division packed with 1A through 5A teams.
The next meet will be in Perryton at the Wolf Creek Classic on September 8th.
