Entering Saturday, Bulldog fans had wonder how the Borger Bulldogs would perform in their first game after losing a family member within the Bulldog program. The answer was a pleasant surprise, as the Bulldogs rallied around each other and put together a dominating performance against District 1-3A foes the Perryton Rangers, with the Bulldogs leaving Huber Park with the 13-1 win in five innings.
The game was one of those where every Bulldog player contributed to the win. However it would be senior Chayse Tracy leading the team by pitching all five innings, giving up just one run on four hits, while going 3-for-3 at the plate with two doubles and three RBIs.
With Tracy, three other Bulldog players racked up at least two RBIs in the win including Hunter Gray, Garth Payton, and Grant Boren.
Perryton opened the game scoring a run in the top of the first inning. But the Bulldogs quickly answered by bringing in a run in the bottom of the inning to make it a 1-1 score.
The Bulldogs added another run in the second inning before breaking the game open by scoring seven runs in the third inning and four in the fourth inning to put themselves in position to get the 10-run rule win.
The Bulldogs are now 2-0 in District 1-3A play, 4-9 overall. The Bulldogs return to Huber Park tomorrow evening for a key district showdown with the Pampa Harvesters, who are also 2-0 in district play.
