Dave Franklin Thomas, Jr., 84, of Georgetown passed away on Sunday, August 29, 2010, with his family at his side, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel, 393 North IH 35, Georgetown, Texas. A service celebrating Dave’s life and his faith will be held on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at 10:00AM at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel, with Pastor John Warden officiating. Interment will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2010 at 11:00 at Westlawn Memorial Park in Borger, Texas.
Dave was born December 7, 1925 in Odessa, Texas to the late Dave Franklin, Sr. and Martha “Mattie” Rowena Smith Thomas. He is also preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Rosa Alice White Thomas in March of 1998; his son, Larry Madison Thomas; one sister and one brother. Dave was raised in the Winters, Texas area.

Obituaries that run in the Borger News-Herald that are 200 words or under are classifieds as free obituaries. Obituaries that are 200 words and over are labeled "PAID OBIT" in order to designate them from the ones that are free. This helps funeral homes to know what falls under our free word limit and the addition of any information will push the obituary into a paid status. This is not meant as a personal insult to the deceased, but simply helps the BNH keep track of which obits are free and which are paid.
