Blanche M. Miller, 100, of Amarillo died on Wednesday, August 31, 2011.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 5, 2011 at the Park Place Towers Parlor with Jerry Bell officiating. Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa, Oklahoma with Nathan Mattox officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Blanche was born on March 22, 1911 in Braymer, Missouri to Florence and Walter Harris. Her mother worked as a dress maker, and her father worked for a salt plant and also an ice plant. She had one younger sister, Mildred.
The family lived in Lyons, Kansas, where she attended high school. She married Hobert Miller in 1936. They had one daughter, Martha Sue. Blanche was a bookkeeper while her husband was in the Army, stationed in Alaska for three years. He then worked in the oil fields for the Sinclair Oil Company.
Blanche, her husband, and daughter lived in Kansas, Stinnett, and Borger. She moved to Amarillo in 1997. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Borger. She enjoyed painting, needle point, sewing, traveling, bridge and reading. Miller and her husband enjoyed playing cards, going to rodeos and dancing.
Her daughter, Martha Rosendahl and husband Larry and grandson, Chris Rosendahl and wife Angele and their children, Brennan and Devon, all live in Baton Rouge, LA. Blanche’s granddaughter, Jessica Rosendahl Leger and husband David and their children, Emma and Lane live in Lafayette, LA. She also has one nephew, Paul Strokey of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The family suggests memorial donations to BSA Hospice, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79105; or to Park Place Towers Library, 1300 S. Harrison, Amarillo, TX 79101.
