Chris Hackett is the men’s head basketball coach at Frank Phillips College and would like to announce that it is time for enrollment in his “Boys Basketball Camp.” Camp is for boys between the ages of 7-17 and there will be two weeks this year! The first week is set for June 2nd-5th and week two is scheduled for June 9th-12th from 9 am to 3 pm each day and lunch will be provided! Camp will be held at the BCAC building on the Frank Phillips College campus and the cost will be $95 each week.
Coach Hackett said, “The camp has grown really quickly! We were at full capacity last year with 80 campers and because of the popularity, we have added an extra week this year. With the help of Dan Redd with the Borger Economic Development Corporation and Kelly Gilmer with Great Western Dining, lunch will be provided every day and each camper will receive an official Adidas camp T-shirt!” There will also be daily competitions with prizes and certificates.
Coach Hackett has run basketball camps all over the world for the past fifteen years. In the U.S. he has been involved with camps of all sizes from small high school camps, to the University of Kansas’ camp with over 2500 campers! He has also directed camps in England and the largest basketball camp in Europe; the Folgaria Basketball Camp in Italy, alongside the NBA’s Mike Fratello and the legendary Rollie Massimino! This fall, Coach Hackett will begin his fourth year as the Head Coach at Frank Phillips College. The Plainsmen have made steady progress under his leadership; increasing both the number of overall wins and conference wins in each of his three seasons, including wins over two nationally ranked opponents. Prior to FPC, he spent five years as the Associate Head Coach at NCAA University, Florida Tech. During his time there, the Panthers were nationally ranked and had their best season in over a decade. Individually, he was named one of the top ten NCAA assistant coaches in the country!
Coach Hackett’s men’s basketball team at Frank Phillips this past season finished up at 15-15, with a road win over nationally ranked Odessa College. The team’s main two guys were Darrell Robinson and Chris Tawiah. They both together helped led the Plainsmen in every single category and they were both named all-conference. They are also the two players in the photos to the near right. Their stats were…Darrell Robinson 13 points, 5 assists, 2 steals per game and Chris Tawiah 10 points, 10 rebounds, 2 blocks per game.
