Assistance needed in solving recent theft

June 18, 2012

The Borger Police Department and Crimestoppers are seeking assistance in solving a recent theft.
On Monday, May 21, 2012, BPD responded to 300 East Tenth Street in regards to a theft call.
It was discovered that sometime between 8 a.m. on May 20 and 7:50 a.m. May 21, a suspect or suspects took a pallet of wire from the inside of a job site at this location.
The pallet contained three spools of 350 aluminum wire, each spool being 1,000 feet of wire.
According to Lt. Anthony Griffin of the BPD, the three spools were shrink wrapped on a pallet located on a Connex storage unit. During this theft, the fence around this location was damaged as well.
During the investigation, Lt. Griffin said it was discovered that a suspect or suspects used the forklift that was onsite to take the pallet.
Since the forklift was used in the commission of the crime, the suspect or suspects had to have working knowledge of this machinery.
The value of the stolen wire is estimated at $6,000.
Anyone having any information in reference to this theft is asked and encouraged to contact the Borger Police Department at (806)-273-0930 or the Crime Stoppers Tip Line at (806)-274-6371.
Any and all persons calling in an informational tip to Crime Stoppers may remain anonymous.
However, anyone wishing to receive an award in reference to the tip is asked and encouraged to leave a working reliable contact number so that a Crime Stoppers Representative can contact the person at a later date and time in reference to reward information in the event that the tip proves to be a reliable and relevant tip.
Crime Stoppers offers rewards ranging from $50 up to $1,000 for reliable and relevant tips and information in reference to any Unsolved Investigation and Crime; any type of Criminal Activity; and / or Outstanding Fugitives from Justice.
