Arson case solved through tip to Crime Stoppers

February 14, 2012

An arrest made pertaining to an arson that occurred back in mid-January was due to a Crime Stoppers tip.
Lt. Anthony Griffin of the Borger Police Department said that Crime Stoppers received a tip from an individual having information in reference to an arson that occurred on Jan. 20, 2012, in the 1000 block of East Sixth Street.
This tip/information led to law enforcement officers solving the case, including an arrest being made. Due to this tip from Crime Stoppers, the individual was awarded $1,000.
Lt. Griffin said Crime Stoppers would to thank all individuals that take the initiative to report unsolved crimes and investigations, criminal activity, as well as fugitives from justice, to the organization.
“The overwhelming assistance and support from the community and those that choose to utilize Crime Stoppers to report tips and information, is what continues to make the Crime Stoppers program a success,” he said.
