Area junior golfers invited to participate in local Drive, Chip and Putt competitions

Youth golfers in the Texas Panhandle are invited to enter area Drive, Chip and Putt (DCP) competitions. The free nationwide junior golf development DCP competitions, founded in 2013, are a joint initiative of the Masters Tournament, the United States Golf Association and the PGA of America.

The competition is aimed at growing the game by focusing on the three fundamental skills employed in golf. Aspiring junior golfers, both girls and boys ages 7-15, are offered the opportunity to play with their peers in qualifiers around the country. Participants who advance through local, sub-regional and regional qualifying in each age/gender category earn a place in the National Finals. The National Finals are conducted at the Augusta National Golf Club the Sunday before the playing of the 2017 Masters Tournament. The finals are televised live by the Golf Channel.

There are two local qualifiers. The first is Friday, July 1 in Amarillo at the Comanche Trail Golf Course. The second is Friday, July 15 in Midland at the Greentree Country Club. Registration is now open. To register visit www.drivechipandputt.com.
