The annexation is complete!

The process of annexing land for a proposed Wal-Mart Supercenter has been completed by the City of Borger.During its regular meeting Tuesday, the Borger City Council finalized an ordinance annexing a 16.361 acre tract of land in Section 23, Block Y, Arnold and Barrett-Morris & Cummings Survey. At its previous meeting, the council acted to approve rezoning the entire tract of land, which is 19.773 acres in total. The remaining 3.412 acres of land is already part of the city limits, but had to be rezoned from estate agricultural to commercial in order for the new Wal-Mart to be constructed there. Back in May, the Borger City Council held two public hearings on the annexation. There were no comments heard at either hearing.Borger City Manager Eddie Edwards said the location of the proposed Wal-Mart Supercenter is directly west of the new hospital. He said there is not an address yet, but the nearest intersection is Highway 136 (West Wilson) and Roosevelt. Now that the annexation of the land is complete, all city services currently available to businesses and residences inside the city limits are available to the area.Watch for more details about the Wal-Mart Supercenter in the Borger News-Herald!
