Amarillo Caprock tops Borger 4-1 in boys soccer action

On Wednesday evening, the Amarillo Caprock Longhorns and the Borger Bulldogs squared off is a physical District 5-4A contest with the Longhorns coming away with the 4-1 win.
From the beginning to the end, both teams came out playing physical leading to several yellow and red cards to be pulled out during the game.
The Longhorns jumped out on top early by scoring two goals in the first ten minutes of the game.
The Bulldogs would settle down and play solid defense the rest of the game, but were limited in their scoring opportunities.
In the 14th minute Lane Newcomb was able to break free for a scoring opportunity, but his shot would no break enough to get past the Longhorn goalkeeper.
In the 64th minute, George Sifuentes had a good shot, but once again the ball couldn't get into the net.
In the 71st and 75th minute, the Longhorns added two more goals to help them seal the win.
But the Bulldogs would not go down quietly as Sifuentes put the ball in the net at the 78th minute to make the final score 1-4.
The loss drops the Bulldogs to 1-2-1 in district play and the team will next travel to Canyon to take on Randall on Friday evening, beginning at 7:00 p.m.
