Summers sisters make Comanche Tennis History

Last week two sisters from West Texas High made school history by becoming the first girls Doubles District Champions ever! Abby Summers, a senior, and Erin Summers a junior won the District 1A Championship. The girls weren't even seeded going into the District tournament. In fact, they took care of the top seeds from Canadian, in round two. This was a neat accomplishment, because the Wildcats won all the other tennis events.

FPC Boy’s Basketball Camp scheduled for May 29th through June 1st

Frank Phillips College Men’s Head Basketball Coach Chris Hackett will be hosting a boy’s basketball camp on Tuesday, May 29th through Friday, June 1st at the BCAC. The camp is open to boys ages 7-17 and is scheduled to run from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. each day.
In the camp, Hackett and the FPC Coaching Staff will focus on fundamentals including shooting, passing, dribbling, rebounding, defense, and individual offense. The camp will also feature 1-on-1, 3-on-3, and 5-on-5 leagues, daily competitions, and camp prizes and certificates.

Bulldogs defeat the Harvesters 9-7 in district action

PAMPA-Through two rounds of District 1-3A play, it is known which three teams are going to make it to the playoffs, but who will end up as the district champions is still up in the air.
After losing to the Pampa Harvesters 8-3 in the first round of district play, the Borger Bulldogs were able to get some revenge on Saturday by getting a 9-7 win at Harvester Field in Pampa.

Bulldogs athletes qualify for the regional track meet

Over the weekend, the Borger Bulldog Boy’s track team had several athletes qualify for the 3A Region I Track Meet by finishing in the top three in the District 1-3A meet in Pampa.
Taking first place in the district meet were Kolter Newton in the triple jump, Ty Brown in the 400m, and the 1600m relay team. Daniel Orona took second place in the shot put and the Borger 800m relay team qualified for regionals by finishing in third place. The Region I-3A meet will be held April 27-28 at Fuller Track and Field complex in Lubbock.

Lady Plainsmen split series with Western Texas

On Sunday, the Frank Phillips College Lady Plainsmen softball team took one step closer to making the Region V Tournament by getting the split with Western Texas College in WJCAC action.
In game one of the series, the Lady Plainsmen jumped out early by scoring nine runs in the first inning on their way to a 12-2 win. The big inning gave the Lady Plainsmen pitcher a big cushion to work with and the pitcher took advantage of it by giving up just two runs on four hits through five innings.

Clarendon takes first two in series with Frank Phillips

On Friday afternoon, the Frank Phillips College Plainsmen plan to climb up the WJCAC baseball standings hit a snag, as the Clarendon College Bulldogs won both games of the Friday doubleheader, 8-6 and 8-3.

Game one started promising for the home team, as the Plainsmen scored six runs off of seven hits. But the Bulldogs chipped away at the lead the final five innings for the comeback win.

Comanches fall apart late, lose to Shamrock

West Texas High was sitting in third place alone in the District standings Friday, but after a 17-12 loss to the Irish in Stinnett yesterday, things are looking messy. It was a one point game until the top of the sixth, when things went bad for WT. They were trailing 8-7 when Alex Ramirez walked 2, hit 2, and the Irish also banged out four hits to take a 16-7 lead the Comanches couldn’t overcome.

FPC Plainsmen and Lady Plainsmen in action in Borger this weekend

After a couple of road trips, the Frank Phillips College Plainsmen (14-20) baseball team and the Lady Plainsmen (10-27) softball team will be in WJCAC action this weekend in Borger,
The Plainsmen begin a four game series with the Clarendon College Bulldogs (19-9) on Friday with a doubleheader beginning at noon.
The Plainsmen have looked good the past two weeks with a 5-3 record against NMMI and El Paso CC to improve their conference record to 8-8.
