Florene Miller Watson

February 8, 2014

Florene Miller Watson, 93, of Borger, Texas, died February 4, 2014. Celebration
of Life services will be at 10:30 am Monday, February 10, 2014 at Faith Covenant Church
in Borger with Pastor Les Sharp officiating and under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral
Directors of Borger. The family will receive guests Sunday, February 9, 2014 from
5-7pm at the funeral home.
Florene Miller Watson was born on December 7, l920 in San Angelo, Texas to Thomas L.
and Flora Theis Miller. Her father was a watchmaker and owner of a jewelry store chain in

Borger Police, State Troopers, DEA raid Borger residence; investigation ongoing

Local Police, State Troopers, and Federal Agents have siezed suspected drug money and vehicles from a Borger residence in an ongoing operation.

On Wednesday, February 5, 2014 Federal DEA agents, state DPS agents, and Borger Police Department officers conducted a raid in Borger where Captain Anthony Griffin of the BPD says the three agencies, including the Borger Police Department K-9 Unit, moved on a residence believed to be used by a Mexican drug trafficking organization.

Jonna Juan Loftis

February 7, 2014

Jonna Juan Loftis, 59, of Borger, Texas passed
away February 3, 2014.
Jonna was born November 27, 1954 in Potter County to
James Warren and Rachel Loftis.
Ms. Loftis is preceded in death by her parents and two
brothers James (Goat) Loftis and Donald Scallion.
Survivors include One daughter Toiya Loftis of Jacksonville,
Florida, Two sons, Rafael and wife Lauren Dickson
of Borger, Texas Eric Dickson of Paris, Texas. Four grandchildren,
Taylor Dickson, Demetri Dickson, Caleb Dickson,
and Chole Dickson ,one great-granddaughter Carter Dickson.

Lady Softball Schedule Change

February 6, 2014

The Frank Phillips Softball team announced today that there have been several changes made to the FPC softball schedule due to the winter weather that has come through the area. The games scheduled on Saturday February 8th in Trinidad, CO versus Trinidad State Junior College have been postponed with no make-up date scheduled. The games scheduled on Tuesday February 11th versus Garden City Community College have been moved to Wednesday February 12th.

away February 3, 2014.

Deborah Gail Brame

Deborah Gail Brame, 50, passed away on
February 3, 2014 in Skellytown after a courageous battle
with colon cancer.
Services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 8, 2014,
at First Baptist Church in Pampa, with Rev. Hiram Reyes,
Rev. Rob Lackey, Rev. Carter Pirtle, and Rev. Dale Berry, officiating.
Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery in
Pampa, under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral
Directors of Pampa.
Debbie was born December 3, 1963 in Pampa. She attended
first through the eleventh grade in Texline, and graduated from White Deer High School

Betty Jean Meyer

February 6, 2014

Betty Jean Meyer, 82, of Borger went home to
be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 4, 2014. After a long
battle with cancer, Betty showed all who knew and loved her
what courage, hope and grace really are.
A celebration of her life will be on Saturday, February
8, 2014 at 2pm in the First Baptist Church with Les Sharp,
Pastor of Faith Covenant Church, officiating. Burial will
follow at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of
Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. The family
will receive guests Friday, February 7, 2014 from 5- 7pm at
the funeral home.

Singing Bulldog performs at Super Bowl Borger Choral Arts department represented on world-wide stage

February 5, 2014

Sunday, in front of a world-wide television audience and packed football stadium, the Borger Choral Arts Department was represented during the national anthem prior to the Super Bowl 48 football game by a former Singing Bulldog, Casey Elliott.
Elliott is currently serving in the Navy and sings and conducts for the Navy Sea Chanters.
Elliott, of the Borger High School class of 1998, was a three-year All-State Competitor and UIL State Competition Soloist. She went on to sing at Texas tech and was also a vocal student of the late Rosemarie Scott.

Delores “Deanie” Miles, 72, died Monday,
February 03, 2014 in Borger. Funeral services will be 11:00
a.m. Friday at the Wesley United Methodist Church, with
Rev. Donald Ward, pastor officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn
Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell
