Xcel Energy working to restore power

June 24, 2014

Excel Energy workers have spent much of the past two days attempting to return power to area customers following Sunday’s powerful storms that rolled across the Texas panhandle.
According to Xcel Energy spokesman Wes Reeves, the utility company’s repair crews worked throughout Sunday night and Monday to restore power to customers in Amarillo, Pampa and Borger.

BBS looking for return of stolen swan

There’s a mystery in Borger. And the result, according to officials at the Borger Bird Sanctuary, could be sad news for one of Borger’s new icons.
Oh where has the new swan gone?
One of the four baby swans that were recently hatched to the adult black swans at the sanctuary was stolen last weekend, according to sanctuary officials. The bird, which was hatched less than three months ago, was taken from the cage on Sunday evening by an unknown subject, who picked the lock on the facility, entered and abducted the baby swan.

Fritch voters to decide ‘wet’ issue in Nov.

The Fritch City Council took the first step to enabling Fritch voters to determine if they want to remain “dry” or want to become “wet” in the upcoming Nov. 4 election on Tuesday when they unanimously approved a motion for the city clerk to begin the paper work necessary to place the issue on the ballot.

FRITCH - The way Carolyn Lash looks at the May 11 wildfire that destroyed more than 220 homes is simple. She didn’t just lose her home, she lost something maybe even more important – her way of living.     
Back in 1999, Lash and her husband, Bill, started a unique hobby – taxidermy.

Xcel powers up ‘Electric Camp’ at FPC

Members of 4-H clubs and students interested in agriculture and FFA from across the Panhandle joined with representatives of Xcel Energy and several local dignitaries to participate the start of the annual Electric Camp at Frank Phillips College on Monday. The camp is slated to run through Wednesday.

FRITCH - For Mary McFarling, the official unveiling of the veterans’ monument at the Fritch City Park on Saturday afternoon was a dream come true. The men and women who served the country, including her late husband, Col. J.L. McFarling, finally had something that honor them.
