Gertrude Hodges passed away Sunday, July 31, 2011 in Fort Worth at the age of 93.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 4, 2011, at the First Southern Baptist Church in Fritch, Texas with interment following at Westlawn Memorial in Borger, Texas. She will lie in state Wednesday August 3 at Minton Chatwell Funeral Home in Fritch. Arrangements are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Fritch.
Otis â€śO.T.â€ť â€śHobbyâ€ť Thomas Kirksey was born into this life on April 21, 1930, in Archer County, Texas to Ben and Della Kirksey. He closed his eyes here on earth July 30, 2011 and opened them in heaven.
On Monday, cross country, volleyball and football teams across the state of Texas rang in the new school year by diving into Two-a-Day practices.
The Borger Bulldog football team didnâ€™t waste any time holding their first practice, taking to the field at 12:03 a.m. on Monday morning in front of around 200 fans at Bulldog Stadium for Midnight Madness.
Entering the season, the Bulldogs are enjoying the luxury of having good numbers in the program, with 96 players signed up to take to the field, including eight new transfers.

The Stinnett Birthday Celebration is set for next week!
The event, in its 85th year, has a theme of â€śMardi Gras On The Plains,â€ť and will be held Aug. 8-13.
On Wednesday, Aug. 10, Community Church and an ice cream social will be held starting at 6 p.m.
On Friday, Aug. 12, a community watermelon and hot dog picnic will be held at 6 p.m., and the Booster Club Beach Volleyball Tournament will kick off at 6:30 p.m. Those wishing to participate in the volleyball tournament need to contact Angela Hoff at 898-0825.
The Altrusa Craft Show/Flea Market is scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 10 and Sunday, September 11, 2011, out at the Aluminum Done.
This year, Amy Fernandez is serving chairperson of the show, with Vickie Cornelius and Jackie Whatley serving as co-chairs.
Stephanie Frick is also helping to put the show together by sending invitations, accepting reservations, marking spaces, and checking the vendors out at the end.

When that happens, the question becomes where do the greyhounds go and how are they placed into a good loving environment to live out the rest of their lives?
Lonnie and Marian Jones of Fritch play a big role in answering that question for several former racing greyhounds by serving as the West Texas representatives for the Greyhound Adoption League of Texas (GALT).

Arrangements are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Sara was born November 2, 1961 in Pittsfield, Indiana to Ralph and Selma Wagner. Sara was a homemaker, who loved her family and her grandkids dearly. They were her life. On May 11, 1986 she married James â€śJimâ€ť Charlton II in Borger, Texas.
Serena Lee Sherman, 27 years old, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2011. Serena was born August 8, 1985 in Menard. She resided in Dallas with her fiance Charlie Chang. She is preceded in death by her grandfather Richard Sherman.
Survivors include two grandparents, Joyce Sherman of Junction and Ellen Davis of Menard; her mother, Amanda Light of Borger; her father, Joe Sherman and stepmother, Rhonda Sherman of Milliken,CO; her sister, Chrystal Kerbo and fiance Matt Garza of Pampa; her brother, Joe Sherman Jr., of Borger. Various great-grandparents, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins.
On Thursday, July 28th, Borger resident Steven Guy Redwing, 56, pled guilty in the 84th Judicial District of Texas, to having sexual contact with a minor in Borger on April 15th, 2011.
In return for Redwingâ€™s plea of guilty, District Attorney Mark W. Snider recommended Redwing to be sentenced to eighteen years in prison. District Judge John W. Lagrone sentenced Redwing in accordance with the plea bargain.
As part of the plea agreement, Redwing waived his right to have his case tried before a jury and his right to appeal his case.
