Hot bats help propel Borger Bulldogs to district lead

There are times in the athletic arena where a bad loss can make a lasting impression on a team for either the good or bad during a season.
After the Borger Bulldogs suffered an 18-8 loss to the Perryton Rangers back on April 2 there was the big question of how the Bulldogs would regroup in order to stay in the hunt for the District 1-3A title or potentially find themselves just settling for the third playoff spot when the season came to an end.

Lady Comanches add two more wins to their District record

The West Texas Lady Comanches played two district softball games on the road this week. That didn’t matter to the Lady Tribe as they took care of business in style. First, they came close to shutting out the Lady Mustangs from Claude on Saturday. The girls did a great job defensively holding Claude to only one run, winning 21-1. Then, they went to Follett and won 11-0 on Monday.

BHS hires new principal

April 15, 2011

Borger High School will officially have a new principal at the start of the new school year.
After a closed session Thursday evening, the Borger ISD board of trustees voted to approve David S. Tyson of Kerens as the new principal to replace Tony McCarthy. McCarthy will be taking an administrative position within the district.
Tyson will be coming to BHS from his position as principal at Kerens High School in Kerens, where he has served from 2006 until the present time.

Dyer named new FPC Head Volleyball Coach

Frank Phillips College is pleased to introduce Ashley Dyer as its new Volleyball Coach and Developmental Math Instructor.
“I’m excited to be at FPC,” Ms. Dyer said. “With its great record and many national appearances, I’ll be stepping into a good program. I am looking forward to building the program even more. I have high expectations for the years to come.”

FPC pitcher Levy signs with Webber International

After serving the past two seasons as the Frank Phillips College Lady Plainsmen’s top pitcher, Kiana Levy signed to continue playing softball at the colleigate level at Webber International University located in Babson Park, Fla., outside of Orlando.

Mildred Irene Tate Duckworth

Mildred Irene Tate Duckworth, 84, of Borger, passed away, Tuesday, April 12, 2011.
Mildred (Wickerd) Duckworth was born Tuesday, June 29, 1926 in Eagle Rock, CA to Oliver Henry and Ina Pearl Wickerd. She was a beautician.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Marion Lawrence Tate; her second husband, David R. Duckworth; and her son, Kirk Raymond Tate.

Charlotte Kay Garrett

Charlotte Kay Garrett, 60, of Borger, passed away, Wednesday, April 13, 2011.
Charlotte Kay (Benton) Garrett was born Thursday, May 18, 1950, in Borger, to Thomas W. and Almeta (Peden) Benton. She married William Dean Garrett on May 25, 1968, in Stinnett. She was a nurse.
She is preceded in death by her father and her husband.
