The Stinnett City Council took care of various items of business during its regular meeting Monday evening.
The council discussed and approved the Street improvement (seal-coating) for 17 and a half blocks on Ranch and Larriet and other areas.
In terms of bids, the council decided to accept GW James of Pampaâ€™s bid of $18,412.00 for the project that was presented by Branch Engineers .
The City of Stinnett also approved the hiring of Drennan Rogers for the Stinnett Police Department and new CDC Member Kendra Jones.
The West Texas Comanches let one get by them yesterday in Stinnett. They had the lead 15-12 going into the top of the seventh inning, but a determined Booker team scored four runs in the top of the seventh to take a 16-15 edge. The Comanches certainly didn't give it up easily. The loaded the bases with the bottom of the order and just one out, but could not get the runs across the plate. Booker came away with the win 16-15.
When looking at the scores of the first three rounds of the District 1-3A Golf Tournament, it was almost a foregone conclusion that the Borger Bulldog Varsity team was going to claim the District 1-3A title unless they experienced an monumental collapse.
The burn ban in Hutchinson County will continue.
During its regular meeting Tuesday, the Hutchinson County Commissioners Court voted to extend the burn ban for another 90 days.
County Fire Marshal Danny Richards told the court, â€śWe are extremely vulnerable.â€ť This item was unanimously agreed upon and was put into effect yesterday.
A burn ban was initially approved by the court in January of this year.
The ban prohibits the burning of trash and any type of burning in open pits. It will not affect farmers who do agricultural burning, but does restrict other types of outdoor burning.
The District 1-3A Track Meet will take place tomorrow and Thursday at Ranger Stadium in Perryton.

With the Hutchinson County Relay For Life quickly approaching, local cancer survivors are encouraged to register for this yearâ€™s event.
Anyone in Hutchinson County who currently has or has ever been diagnosed with any type of cancer is urged to register with the Relay for Life of Hutchinson County survivor committee by Friday, May 13, 2011.
Local officials are doing their part to ensure that local youngsters are properly buckled into their car seats.
The Borger Fire Department will be holding a â€śCar Seat Checkupâ€ť from 1:30pm-4pm on April 19, 2011.
Mike Barter of the Borger EMS said, â€śThis will help people choose a car seat that is required by new laws for children.â€ť
It will also help parents or anyone who drives with a child in the car have a better understanding of how to keep the child safe along with all the doâ€™s and donâ€™ts.

DALHART-While people across the Texas Panhandle were hanging on to their belongings to keep them from blowing away in the high winds, the Borger Lady Bulldogs found a way to hang on and fight for a 14-12 win over the Dalhart Lady Wolves on Saturday afternoon to improve to 2-3 in District 1-3A play and 17-15 overall for the season.
On Saturday afternoon, the Borger Bulldogs put on a hitting clinic up in Dalhart by sending six balls out of the park for homeruns on their way to defeating the Dalhart Golden Wolves 15-4 in District 1-3A action.
Borger senior catcher Brandon Garcia continued showcasing his power at the plate by sending three over the fence along with senior centerfielder Garrett Irwin leaving Dalhart with three homers at the plate as well.
Senior Hunter Hertel got the win on the mound for the Bulldogs.
The West Texas Comanches went into Claude this past Saturday tied with them for second place with a 3-1 District record.
Both teams had losses to Follett, who leads the District. The Comanches got off to an early lead, and had to fight to hold on to it. They got the job done though and came away with a 13-9 win. Now they are alone in second place, ready to knock off Follett when they meet again.
