Johnny Rusten, who has served on the board for the past 13 years, and most recently held the position of president, has made the decision to step down.
“Throughout our lives, seasons come and seasons go. One of the greatest seasons of my life was the most recent thirteen years of my life as a trustee of the Borger Independent School District,” Rusten said in a letter submitted to BISD superintendent Chance Welch. “It is with regret that I must end that special time in my life with this letter of resignation.”
PAMPA-On Friday evening, District 1-3A play finally got underway with the Borger Bulldogs traveling to take on the Pampa Harvesters for the next chapter of the Texas Panhandle’s best rivalry.
Both teams came in with identical 3-4 record, but throughout the night the Bulldogs proved they were the better team by putting together a dominating performance on both sides of the ball in their 31-6 win.
The Sanford-Fritch Eagles traveled 141 mies south Friday night, looking to secure first place in District 1-2A with a win over the Abernathy Antelopes.
The Lopes had a different plan and their quick and strong Abernathy team wore down the Eagles.
In the first quarter, Sanford-Fritch punted the ball and some great defense were able to force Abernathy to do nothing offensively and punt.
