The Hutchinson County Museum will be sponsoring the Annual Adobe Walls Trek this Saturday.
The trek is set for Saturday June 25, 2011, and will start at 9 a.m. at the museum, located at 618 North Main Street in Borger.
The City of Borger is currently encouraging its citizens to practice water conservation.
Winston Sauls, who works at the city's water treatment plant, presented some information on water quality during the regular meeting of the Borger City Council Tuesday, along with tips for citizens on conserving water.
In the past two weeks, former Frank Phillips College and current Clarendon College Athletic Director, John Green has been reinstated as the WJCAC Conference Commissioner and the NJCAA Region V Menâ€™s Director.
â€śI am thrilled to be back plugged into the offices. I have enjoyed this conference and region and the leadership that I work with.
â€śThere are is much more I wish to accomplish to elevate the collegiate sports of the WJCAC and Region V,â€ť replied Green.
Due to recent conditions and circumstances, the City of Borger is encouraging citizens to practice conservation when it comes to their water usage.
Eddie Edwards, Borger City Manager, said that water is a finite resource that requires careful management, and the era of plentiful and inexpensive water is coming to an end.
â€śSince the beginning of June, the Borger Municipal Water System has experienced an average increase in consumption of approximately 14 percent over previous years,â€ť he said. â€śConditions are appropriate to raise citizen awareness and increase water conservation efforts.â€ť
Officers from the Fritch Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fire call late Sunday evening.
The call was in reference to a fire caused by a barbecue grill on the night of Fatherâ€™s Day. The fire occurred around 11 p.m. in the 800 block of Hoyne St. in Fritch.
FVFD Deputy Chief Ronnie Morrison stated that the fire was taken care of around 2:30 a.m.
There were no injuries reported.
The fire consumed most of the homeownerâ€™s back porch and the screen door, causing around $5,000 worth of property damage.

The Lake Meredith Museum is introducing its new mix of artifacts in its latest summer exhibit.
The exhibit has a wide array of artifacts, ranging from painted cow skulls by local residents to wildlife photographs taken by local citizen David Wilkinson. Renee Laney, museum director, states that some of the artifacts come from a variety of human experiences.
Mrs. Betty Jo Lewis Gallaway, 86, of Quinlan, Texas and longtime resident of Borger, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, June 18, 2011 in Terrell, Texas. The family will have a service in Borger at a later date.
The Honorable Beverly Fern McClure (Retired), 74, of Borger passed away Monday, June 20, 2011.
Beverly Fern (Weightman) McClure was born Thursday, February 25, 1937 in Hardeman County, TX to Leslie P. and Myrtle Belle (Ballard) Weightman. She married Bobby Lee McClure in Clayton, New Mexico. Among her many accomplishments, she was the first female deputy of Hutchinson County.
Beverly also served as Justice Of The Peace Precinct 2 from 1987 to December 1998.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Lee McClure on August 10, 1970; her parents, one sister, and one brother.
Over the weekend many of best riders in the Texas Panhandle were in town to take part in the 2011 Hutchinson County Sheriffâ€™s Posse Rodeo.

If moving his local studio from Cedar Street to its new location in the old Smittyâ€™s Furniture Building on Main Street and opening new studios in Guymon and Spearman were not keeping him busy enough, Master MarkAnthony Baca of American Karate Studios could soon be on a television or movie screen near you.
Baca has been spending some time in front of a television camera down in Austin for a martial arts based reality show, while now preparing for a role in an upcoming independent film scheduled to start shooting in July titled â€śThe Cain Complex.â€ť
